Palm Hills
Golf Course & Country Club, Hua Hin
was the first of a new generation of courses to open in 1991. And was
the first course in Hua Hin to stage the Thailand World Pro Am in 1993
gaining much praise from the British PGA.
80 meters above Sea level the rolling & gently undulating fairways
provide Palm Hills with it's own individual identity. The only exception
to the gentle terrain is on the 10th hole, where a semi-blind tee shot
is encountered from the side of an imposing limestone mountain. Water
is also a hazard especially on the 2nd, 8th, 11th and 14th holes. "Toppers"
beware!
Being a "new generation" course, Palm Hills has great clubhouse
facilities. Thai-style design with American-style facilities for the golfer
who requires more than just a round, the Country Club offers a large swimming
pool, Tennis, badminton & squash courts, and a fully equipped Gymnasium
for the really energetic.
Overall this is a wonderful course with experienced, friendly caddies
& staff. Palm Hills also offers some of the best views over the Gulf
of Thailand. A must for your golf package.
Imperial Lake View Golf Club, Cha-Am
Located
a 30 minute drive north from Hua Hin, this 27 hole, par 72 was designed
by Roger Packard. The course stretches over an area of 1,500 acres of
land and is a good championship length of more than 6,900 yards from the
back tees. Roger Packard and his team have produced an entertaining course,
which exhibits greens that are often hidden from the tees, but the well
defined fairways provide enough to retain a good sense of direction. Lake
view has been designed with the modern golfer in mind who likes to enjoy
a fair challenge along with an element of risk.
Inland through
small farms & pineapple plantations Lake View is another example of
the quality of Golf Courses in and around Hua Hin. The design of this
championship course conveys a sense of adventure. Hidden greens, mature
palm trees and well defined fairways are on offer throughout this course,
and spot decisions have to be made from the opening hole, as potential
problems lie ahead. Easy par's are on offer for those of us that want
to take them. How adventurous are you feeling? This course also offers
a test for courage and putting expertise.
Lake view has a par of 72 and a championship length of more than 6900
yards from the back trees. This course offers exciting and demanding play
for the experienced golfer, but will also accommodate the occasional enthusiast.
Other leisure activities are also available in Lake View's magnificent
club house. Including tennis and squash. If this is the course for you,
why not stay at Lake view's luxury 72 room hotel that overlooks the golf
course!
Royal Hua Hin Golf Course
Designed
by a Scottish railway engineer, The 'Royal' opened in 1924 in the reign
of King Rama VI. The Royal Hua Hin is the oldest par 72 courses in Thailand.
Constructed around the base of a limestone mountain range, the course
is covered in lush vegetation that clings to the edge of the rocky overhangs
and boulders. Royal Hua Hin also has lovely views of Buddhist temples
that are perched on the hillsides that blend into the dense foliage of
the surrounding area. Located just behind the old railway station.
The Royal Hua Hin Golf Course offers tempting Tee shots for the adventurous
& natural jungle surroundings, as well as views over the gulf of Thailand,
making this course a must for any golfer staying in or near Hua Hin. Tree
lined fairways, shaded lies & regular watering holes offering various
snacks. What more could a golfer ask for to provide the perfect round.
The Majestic
Creek Country Club
A local,
Dr. Sukitti Klangvisai, designed this 18 hole course in over 600 acres
of land. The Majestic Creek golf course is also one of the country's leading
golf centers with the inclusion of artful landscape design with palms
and Casurina trees. A large staff of green keepers ensures that the fairways
and greens are always maintained in absolutely perfect condition. Valleys
in nearby mountains supply water to the maze of streams that wind around
the course with just enough hazards to attract the discerning golfers
who will discover the Majestic Creek a pleasure to play. The journey takes
30 minutes and is very interesting as the inland road passes through rural
Thailand with small farms of pineapples, bananas, mangoes and sugarcane
towards the mountains of Kaeng Krachan National Park.
Majestic Creek is one of the newest courses to open in the Hua Hin area,
and the journey towards the course offers rural views of Thai life. Small
farms producing sugar cane, pineapple, bananas & mangos line the route
out to the course.
Majestic offers superb golf holes in an exciting layout. The opening hole
has a wealth of potential problems, and decisions have to be made. An
easy par four for those of us who want to take the conventional route,
or if you are the adventurous golfer, then trying to cut the dog-leg corners
will really test your skill. The hazards of the 1st hole will never be
far away, and precedes a succession of exciting & equally demanding
holes.
Mountain side location, Majestic offers natural hazards as well as the
local designers own input, and will offer a round full of excitement &
challenge to any golfer.
The club house offers all the facilities that one could wish for, and
a personal escort is even at hand to take you to the first hole for tee
off.
Springfield
Royal Country Club, Cha-Am
A Jack
Nicklaus masterpiece, the 'East course' opened in 1993 and is the first
18 holes of a planned 36 holes. Designed and maintained to the highest
international standards, it is recognized as one of the premier golfing
resorts in Thailand and was the venue for the 2000 Thailand Open. The
second Nicklaus designed 'West course' is planned for completion as future
village neighborhoods are developed. The course has been designed to meet
the demands of championship golf, however it is an enjoyable challenge
for golfers of all standards as each hole has a minimum of five tees to
play from. The Golf learning Center with in - house PGA professionals
provides teaching both in the field and in the classroom with video playback
and analysis. The club house, bar, restaurants and terraces command spectacular
distant mountain views and overlook the lakes and island green of the
dramatic finishing hole to The East course.
The course its self has been designed to meet the needs of a championship
course, but maintains an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all standards.
Starting with a par 4 the first hole is a gentle 367 yards from the white
tee, and on appearance looks to be quite simple.
Hopes can quickly fade, as the well protected green can prove difficult
& requires accuracy. Overall with the cleverly devised layout, views
over streams, lakes & the gulf of Thailand, you will find this course
very addictive.
